Everything in life is a process. Even something as fundamental as going to work every day.
Let’s look at the following steps:
1. Get out of bed.
2. Brush your teeth.
3. Get into the shower.
4. Put on some fresh clothes.
5. Put on deodorant, lotion and fix your hair.
6. Gather your belongings.
7. Get into your car.
8. Drive off.
There are 8 steps involved in completing this task. Although this process is like second nature, there is no way to get around the fact that you can’t get to step 8 without completing step 1. You can’t go to work without getting out of bed first.
This scenario also rings true for every process you encounter in life. You must take the first step in order to achieve anything worth having.
I’m often terrified to sit down and write. But to realize my dream of becoming a good writer I must take the first step of putting pen to paper, regardless of how messy my rough draft turns out to be.
If you want to lose weight, then start by taking a light walk around the block. If you want a new job, then start by doing some research on your desired position. If you want to learn a new skill, then start by watching a You Tube video on the topic.
Wherever you’re at in life, take that first step toward achieving your goals right now.
