Simple (and funny) Pleasures in Life

It seems we’re always so busy that we don’t stop to appreciate the simple pleasures we encounter on our life’s journey. The following are a few things that make our lives much happier:

  • Getting a close parking space at a crowded Walmart, mall, or department store (especially during the holiday season).
  • Eating your favorite comfort food, that perfect dish that hits the spot every time.
  • A nice cold drink of water after doing some intense exercise.
  • Hearing your favorite song on the radio.
  • Sleeping in on a Saturday morning.
  • Getting a random card (non-birthday, holiday, or anniversary related) from your significant other.
  • The feeling when you clock out after a long productive day of work.
  • Catching a great sale at your favorite retailer (for me it’s Old  Navy and JCPenny).
  • Going out to eat and relaxing with good friends.
  • Watching your favorite team win a big game.
  • If you’re single and at a social function with friends it’s the feeling when your super-hot friend that you have a crush on, asks to take a picture with you. And of course you say yes and give the biggest smile possible to look like the two of you are dating. When people see the picture on your Facebook page and ask about the person,  you respond that the person is just a good friend. Lol.
  • Successfully reaching your destination especially when it’s your first time traveling to a new place  and you’re not exactly a directional genius.
  • Wrapping up with a good book.
  • Drinking that right cup of coffee to get your day going.
  • Bumping into an old friend for the first time in years.
  • For singles, seeing a good looking person who just takes your breath away and makes you wonder, “Wow I never knew people like that existed on earth.”
  • Logging into your Facebook account on your birthday and seeing hundreds of happy birthday wishes from your close friends and people you never thought would take out the time to wish you one.
  • For guys, the feeling when your significant other wears that awesome dress or skirt that makes you think, “Wow, I never realized how great her legs are!”
  • The surprise feeling when you get a good grade on a test that you definitely didn’t study your best for.
  • Winning an e-bay bid at the last possible second (bidding can be a very intense experience).
  • Your boss telling you that you’re doing a good job.
  • Opening up a card and seeing some dollar bills. Sometimes you don’t even read the card. Lol.
  • An all-day marathon of your favorite tv show airs on a day when you have absolutely nothing to do.
  • Flipping through the channels and catching a random episode of a show you’ve never watched. You get into the show and then watch it the next day…and the next. Before you know it you’re hooked and  just discovered your new favorite show!
  • You’re assigned to work with a partner in class for a project. Your partner looks good and you both exchange information and even meet up to work outside of class. In your mind you’re thinking, “This is the closest to a date I’ve ever been on with this person and hope this project never ends!”
  • For soda addicts, downing an ice cold can of your fave beverage. Even better when the drink is on the strong side (that throat burning sensation on the way down).
  • If you have a girlfriend/boyfriend or married, that feeling you get when you think to yourself, “What did I do to deserve such a awesome partner?”
  • Perhaps the best simple pleasure of all is the feeling of helping someone out. I work at a grocery store and I often help the elderly women take their groceries out to their car. The appreciation they show is always enough to brighten my day.

  1. There are definitely some items on your list that I can relate to. Another simple pleasure is just knowing when you walk through the door that you are truly home, where you need to be.

I know you read it, now prove it!
